  1. While I think it may help to leave a letter with the agency, due to personal experience, I am not optimistic to the outcome in doing that.  My own firstmother left a letter for me with the agency.  They never gave it to me even though I have been in contact with them for years.

Leaving a letter with them would be a great idea but it is a very passive approach and it means that you will need to simply trust that the agency would do the right thing.  My agency didn't.

If you want to search more actively, I would suggest filing with Soundex, checking online registries and possibly looking into someone like Kinsolvers to help you.

    Good luck.

  2. Can you go thru the adoption agency? Maybe they can pass on a letter on from you to her. It may take so time before she starts to look. So, please do not give up hope. Or you could hire a private investigator to help find her. I mean these are just suggestions.

  3. www.adoption.com

just keep in mind the world of adoption is SOOOO much different today. But when you want something the whole universe conspires in helping you to acheive it.

good luck!!!! we just adopted less then a month ago... I think of the birth mom at least ONCE a day!!!!!!!!!

  4. here is a link to alot of free searching tools and links.

if you have a name, use the free name and address finders.

I just wanted to add onto isabel and BPDwife's letter comment. the best thing to do in that situation, is to leave a consent to release your infromation, because if thats not on file, they will black out all identifying information you leave in a letter to the adoptee you're searching for.

consent to release your information, call the agency and get this, fill it out and have it put into your file. If they don't give it to her, after you submit it ( and beware some agencies charge of hefty fee for this.....of course they do! ) its illegal and they can be prosecuted!

  5. While I'm not familiar with any of the free search sites, I would highly recommend leaving a letter with the adoption agency and/or the attorney that processed the adoption.  This way when your child does begin to look, you have the information in some of the places she may look first.  If you move, be sure to update the information too.

    Good luck to you.
