I have a Burton Custom and i think its a great board. You can probably find one under 400$

My understanding is that with Burtan, you're paying for the name.

I've been told that Option and Ride are good boards to get because they're still hungry to get to the top of the market.  So with them you're paying for the quality of the board.

i would say something from burton maybe?

if your a beginner go for the second hand companies like flow.
