All this depends on where you want to go, what you enjoy doing and what time of year.

For me, I enjoy the outdoors and love long hikes.  I've found that the best time for me is Easter weekend.  

Easter is when spring shows herself in the Northern Hemisphere.  Blooms are up, the grass is green and the country smells fresh and clean.  

Hotel rates are stiill affordable and many campgrounds are already up and running.  The roads are not that crowded early Sunday morning except for the church crowd, but by then I'm on a trail somewhere.  My fondest Easter weekend memory is hiking with my husband along the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania, in the German-Amish countryside with its lush green hills and Holstein cows.  That area actually did remind me of Bavaria.  We met farmers in their fields, talked to other hikers, but most of all, the buffets in town were the best ever!  We gorged ourselves on Roasted Chicken and all the fixens'.

People are also in a mellow, spirited mood over Easter.
