I want to pull my geldings mane and have not donw it before. I did kind of get a lesson on it by watching a TB trainer doing her horses and it looks quite easy but I was just wondering whats the better brand or style of pulling comb as there are a few at Horseland...Thanks

  1. Hi,

What i use are the Aluminum combs with the wood handle ( alot easier on your hands) and if you are one of those people who thinks it hurts the horse ( it doesn't) then you could invest in one of those "solo" combs. I have both because my friend thinks it is cruilty to pul out their manes but when she is around i only humour her by using the one she got me and when she isnt i use the old fashion one.

The Aluminum Puling Comb is only 2-4$

The Solo Comb is around 40$

    Good Luck!

  2. I always use a metal comb. About 4-6ins long with good strong teeth. Plastic/nylon combs tend to become slippery in your hands when it's hot.

  3. For pulling manes, they make a metal comb that is about 2" high and about 4-5" long.  I like the ones with the wooden handles because they make pulling a LOT easier.

  4. A metal pulling comb is best.
