I am in high school and want to find the right motorcycle for me. I am about 5'9 and 150 lbs. I would like to find a cruiser/standard type of bike, but i'm open to suggestions. I would like to find something used and around $1000-1500. Also where would be the best place to look for a reliable used motorcycle?

  1. Find one in the paper. I know a kawasaki ninja is a little more sporty, but you can find older ones for cheap, and they ride really nicely.

  2. A used Suzuki DR Model.  250 cc can't hurt.  Just be certain it is street legal before wheels return to asphalt or concrete.

The DR owners like gravel roads.  See product video of my

provided source (not a DR) that has even more fun on gravel.

  3. RMZ250

  4. honda rebel.

gravel doesn't matter... either way it'll be just as terrifying and demanding of biker skill....

if i really had to take that into account, i'd look into a kl x/r 650 (ti's a dual sport, but also made to 'slip' which is what is so disheartening about dirt bikes to riders who are completely used to street bikes)

your tires aren't stuck to the ground, and honestly, the handling relies more on your ability to skip/kick the back tire out without losing any real speed....

master dirt bike track riding, and you'll be ready for gravel in some way (yoiu'll atleast know how to counter it's slipping effects... it'll almost seem natural, but keep in mind, even a dual sport will slip the tires tremendously over gravel.....

your best bet is ot learn to master unstable ground and take it easy over the gravel.

  5. Yes a Honda Rebel would be a good bike for you. Your problem is going to be that ride on gravel, because riding a bike on gravel sucks!!!!!  Just skip the straight street bikes and get yourself a Honda XL175L.
