  1. Ha! How long is a piece of string?!

No, seriously, there are so many great pubs in Ireland that everyone's going to give you a different answer -- there just isn't one "best" one, at least not as far as I'm concerned. I went to one once in Cork where they brought out a basket of warm sausages after we'd been there about twenty minutes. We said "oh, we didn't order these!" and they said "no, no -- they're on the house!" I wish I could remember the name of it...

Anyway, that said, here's a great article I found the other day in the English newspaper The Guardian -- it's about Dublin's Top 10 Best-Kept Secret Pubs, written by an Dubliner who lives there. Not sure where in Ireland you're going to be, but you could do worse than stop into one of these if you're in the capital! http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2007/au...

Good luck, and have a fabulous time!

  2. This is an impossible question to answer because everyone will have a different view on this, but some of my favourites include:

    Seans Bar in Athlone

    Matt Molloys in Westport

    Taaffes in Galway city

    Keoghs in Dublin city

  3. Seans bar athlone is a good pub. isnt it the oldest in the world/ europe.

Freaneys on quay street in galway, where you can by a puint and fishing tackle in one go, still a traditional irish country pub in the heart of the city surrounded by superpubs

  4. Yeah, there are many pubs in Ireland! Holly's link was good - I'd second Anseo in particular. But it depends on what part of the country you're in, and what exactly you're looking for - modern, traditional, and so on. So there's really no one definitive answer.
