Whats the best punch bag to buy?

a really heavy one or? what?

any1 got any decent brands that are good value?

i wouldnt mind a speed ball either

im not a boxer but i use the punch bag alot at the gym as cardio

go to ringside.com or everlast.com

better to go to a boxing gym and learn there so you don't develop bad habits. either that or just pick a different way to work out. for lots of good information on fitness and nutrition go to crossfit.com

I discovered after many,many years, that those just starting to use a heavy bag for general exercise,end up hurting their hands and/or turning `their wrist. The reason in many cases is the bag is too light and swings wildly when hit. New users try to hit the bag as hard as they can and end up getting hurt. The idea, is to work the bag as you would boxing an opponent. I have a large oversize xxxl 22" x 42" L bag made of a tough marine nylo/nvinly that won't tear or near repair like leather bags. Well in my gym we use Everlast  they are durable    and to get a good work out buy one thats at least half  your weight ....
