Whats the best restaurant in canberra? and why?

Depends on what sort of cuisine you like:

* Every one who lives in Canberra should eat at the Charcoal Restaurant at least once, its a Canberra institution and has been here in some  way, shape or form FOREVER

*Indian, Rhamas at Pearce shops. But either get there early or get take-away as its very popular, and as a result crowded.

* Asian, my personal fave, P**c Quoc in Dickson, and either the New Shanghai or Four Rivers for Yum Cha, again both in Dickson.

* And finally, Poachers Pantry, just out of Hall. A combination cellar door and smokehouse cafe.  Go there for a special occasion, definately worth the drive :).
