Whats the best route from bangalore to goa?

planning on going to goa next week wondering weather to take the bangalore tumkur shimoga honavar road or via hubli yellapur ankola road

best route for me was train, stress free, and if money was no object, then plane, sod roads,, last time i left mysore, trains were out of bounds, some sort of trouble going on, they were setting fires off everywhere. had to take a taxi back to goa, was a horrendous journey, but did see most wonderful scenery that i never thought india possessed. once seen never forgotten, beautiful
