Whats the best route to go into an Art therapy career?

  1. These days, you can, apparently, do an art therapy course at a university without first getting a BA in fine art - (the traditional route).

  3. Yes, to get into art therapy you need a master's degree in art therapy--see link below for FAQs and other details.

    You would not be so likely to work in a nursery or child care facility; more likely, you'd be at a major hospital or mental health clinic or hospice, etc.  Art therapy is a proven method for helping people deal with diseases--both physical and mental--by getting them to draw or paint.  You could work with children--abuse cases benefit from art therapy--or you could wind up helping cancer patients, whose recovery rates are enhanced if they get art therapy.  Those are just a couple of examples.
