  1. We could go with what people call an Amnesty program ( check the definition of amnesty- the program McCain sponsored wasn't amnesty) but we would still be left with the same mess we have now. Before we do anything we have to fix our immigration laws- which currently encourage illegal immigration of not just workers but their entire families. Identify areas of worker shortages usually found in agriculture, construction, and tourism industries. Set up temporary worker programs with realistic quotas. Our current temporary worker quotas are set too low. Change how these worker permits are distributed. Right now employers get the permits and then go find employees. We should issue permits to the employees at consulates abroad and let them find an employer here. I don't know how many people on here are old enough to remember migrant farm workers  who seasonally left Mexico in trucks and vans worked through the circuit and then returned home at the end of the growing season. They didn't bring their families for the most part.  Or they would leave their children with family members in Mexico and the women would come work the tourist season ( Myrtle Beach is an example) while their husbands worked agriculture.  Post 1986 this changed. There was no more crossing the border back and forth. This didn't stop these people from coming, It just meant they brought their families with them and stayed.

Illegals don't get welfare, they don't get food stamps or any other government assistance. In some instances their US born children do because they are US citizens. If you want to stop that change the Constitution. Good luck Just changing the above with dramatically cut down on two things: illegal immigration and the number of families setting down roots here.

Once we do that and establish the program is working correctly then and only then do we turn around and deal with the people already here. Currently to immigrate to this country someone has to sponsor you. They have to fill out a form affirming monetary responsibility for a potential immigrant.  So for each person currently here illegally you have to determine the punishment for not following the law. If the punishment is going to be deportation for every single person no matter what the program will fail. If however the punishment is tailored to match the circumstances then it has a change of working. Judges do this all the time in setting sentences for people who commit crimes. Bear in mind contrary to what you hear people say it isn't a crime to be present in the United States illegally. It is a civil violation. It doesn't become a crime until you have a deportation order served against you after a hearing in front of a judge. It becomes a criminal matter when you fail to leave afterward or return at a later date.

So everyone wanting to stay has to find a sponsor. Some American citizen has to be willing to take financial responsibility for them. Then look at the applicants circumstances: were they convicted of any crimes if so what and how long ago? Felonies have to go, disturbing the peace 5 years ago probably can stay. Are they married to US citizens with no felonies? They can stay, their punishment should be fines or something of that nature. Make the fine whatever you want. They will pay it. Does the applicant have a citizen sponsor and have ties to their community?  Perhaps a different higher fine from someone married to a citizen. Again remember the punishment for say shoplifting isn't the same for all defendants. Go sit in court one day. The punishments vary according to what the details of the crime are and the defendant being punished.

Some people get a fine and some people get jail time.

It is very easy to live and work in this country without ever faking id or stealing someone's identity.  But let say you have an illegal who wishes to take advantage of the chance to stay and they have used someone else's identity to work.  Weed out the drug addicts and other people who willingly sell their identity for cash to illegals to work. They aren't victims. But order restitution be paid to people who are victims. For example someone used your social security number to get work but you suffered no other effects the illegal should pay that person $5,000. Or the illegal used your identity to get a job and caused you to get audited by the IRS. You get $10,000. Again these people will pay this money.

What you can't do is deport them all. Deportation through attrition isn't going to work either. If the economy in the condition it is in can't make them go home nothing can.

That is just a thought. But until people in this country are willing to come to some consensus don't expect anything to change. People on one side want everyone deported and people on the other side want everyone to stay no questions asked no punishments what so ever.  Neither of the two camps is willing to believe any compromise is anything short of giving completely to the other side.

  2. The illegal aliens had to of... HAD to of used a fake I.D. to stay here longer than six months.  That means they committed a pretty serious felony offense which many want to let slide for their favorites.  I don't want that to slide, and because that is the case, all of them need to be deported.  Those that get back to Mexico without being caught can then apply for permission to come back.  If they did well here, they probably also have a job waiting for them, and if they bought homes, they have an opportunity to sell and go home before they are arrested, deported, and banned.

The Mexican Mafia came up with those wonderful forgeries that allowed so many illegal aliens to come to this country.  The problem then is that we don't know which of the 'hidden' but 'fake' I.D.s belong to the Mexican Mafia, and which belong to illegal aliens here as terror groups, and who is a simple illegal aliens.  And think about it.. if you know Mexico.. those who are usually picked up are the poor workers whom they have abused in Mexico.

I want the criminals and terrorists gone along with the white collar workers up here taking jobs from Americans for a lot less money.  Congress wants to s***w us and keep them all, because if you don't deport them all, you won't get the terrorists.

Amnesty?  Amnesty is an obscene word.  Not one single soul in the world knows who we are going to amnesty.. and need I point out that the Mexican Mafia has made sure they have new I.D.s in Mexico, so doing background checks is dumb.. nothing will be there.

Back to the I.D.s the Mexican Mafia is using these days.  They are providing social security numbers that belong to the new born.  For a full ten years no one is going to find that I.D., and there will be plenty more for those who want to stay.

Amnesty is stupid.  In addition, we won't EVER know who we are dealing with if we provide amnesty.  Further, if you read this link, you will discover that amnesty would put us in line for a 2.2 trillion dollar welfare bill that is so stupid it is incredible.

Deportation is the only way we can go and protect this country.  Not perfect.. it is the only way we can go.

  3. I like how some ppl say quit living in the past to certain things but then say " The amnesty of 86 didn't work" well I say quit living in the past. Maybe the amnesty of 86 didn't work but I think they know why now. They didn't secure the borders like they was going to. This time I think they will secure the borders and kick out the trash ppl like the gang members. I think it's the only plausible course.

  4. Quit supplying them with jobs by heavily penalizing employers who hire them.   Quit supporting them with welfare programs.  Quit accepting their children as citizens.  None of it will cost anything, and it will be very effective.

  5. All 20+million illegal aliens should be deported immediately.

  6. It is my opinion that they need to be documented or leave, they should be required to learn English, and there should be set limits on how much money they can send out of the country.

  7. slavery

  8. Leave them alone.Think about your future.

  9. This is the answer: Attrition through enforcement.

http://www.numbersusa.com/interests/attr... It is working in AZ.

President Bush and the rest of the open borders crowd constantly tell the American people that there are only two solutions to our nation's illegal alien crisis – give illegal aliens amnesty or round them up and deport them. This is a diversionary tactic to draw public attention away from the most effective and efficient solution – Attrition Through Enforcement.

The principle behind Attrition Through Enforcement is that living illegally in the United States will become more difficult and less satisfying over time when the government – at ALL LEVELS – enforces all of the laws already on the books. It is also imperative that the government with the full cooperation of the private sector, implements certain workplace enforcement measures. The goal is to make it extremely difficult for unauthorized persons to live and work in the United States. There is no need for taxpayers to watch the government spend billions of their dollars to round up and deport illegal aliens; they will buy their own bus or plane tickets back home if they can no longer earn a living here.

We know Attrition Through Enforcement will work because, until recently, it has been shown to work even with little or no enforcement. As it currently stands, almost 200,000 illegal aliens self-deport from the United States every year, but imagine how many more would leave if our government refused to award illegal aliens another amnesty, mandated all employers to verify a person’s eligibility to work here, cracked down on identity fraud, and enabled local police to easily transfer illegal aliens in their custody to the feds.

  10. we should give the ones who have been good a path to citizenship and deport the gang members

  11. let us take their home countries by force... that way they will all be citizens and there will be no more illegal immigration, at least not from the south.

  12. DEPORT, Deport, deport

  13. Create an agency to deport these illegal immigrants.  The best way to do this is cut welfare spending in half, use the billions of dollars to create this agency. This will save us from supporting lazy immigrants and putting the money to good use.

  14. Deportation is the only real solution.  If the govt allocated at least one fourth the money they did in Iraq, to help support ICE, then you may have already deported a good % of these 12m illegals.

If you take away their jobs then they will simply bum around and will be more inclined towards criminal activity just to support themselves and their families.

Amnesty is unfair although you may welcome them back, so long as they go outside and wait their turn in line.

Just for kicks, we should offer them citizenship, IF they take a 5 to 10 year tour of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.  If they survive the tour, then maybe we should welcome them.

  15. Send them back and make them immigrate the correct way.

  16. mass deportation, do not allow illegals children to attend any public schools, anyone who rents or hires illegals lose their businesses and possessions, no welfare or medical, stiffer punishments if caught here a second time, build the fence and line it with more border patrol and military with the right to use weapons!!!!

  17. i say ship them back.  give many people in this country more jobs.
