  1. its simple my friend the judo tashiwaza is supreme and the throws, avoid the guard go for the points in side mount ,passing the guard to half guard side mount etc remember you in upper possition and you holding his gi very thight and hard like vice grip

tip:be carefull with your hands fully extended in the mat or holdings; you will be caught in armbar in an eyeblink

  2. surprise the guy with a flip and then remember your ground training

  3. Agreed... Throw him, then control the ground game with position. Only go for the submission if you KNOW you've got it.

  4. You will want to know which Judo techniques are not allowed in a BJJ tournament. You need to know if you are allowed to throw your opponent. You will also need to be aware that some techniques that you use that would have given you points in a Judo tournament will not give you any points in a BJJ tournament. Altogether BJJ has fewer restrictions than traditional Judo.  Judo is a great grappling style and you may end up surprising everyone with a win over a BJJ competitor.

  5. I would say direct questions towards a martial arts instructor and not yahoo answers..... just a hunch.

Maybe save up some $$ and hire BJ Penn lol.

  6. They say pictures speak louder than words, and if that is true then, I suppose videos are even more valuable.  I am not a Judo expert so I would not know the first thing about strategy, but I do know that Gene Tunney, was one of the most dangerous boxers ever, because he analyzed films of his opponents.  Analyze BJJ's game, from its top contenders, and if you can get a hold of any films about your opponent, any taps of tourneys he went to, analyze him in action.

The first two links show Judo winning, but I must point out, both are top Judokas, not just in Japan but likely the world.  Also, Judo has a considerably larger pool to draw fighters from, and by comparison BJJ is still smaller, and even then it holds its own and more.  The last video link, is so as you do not get careless, and not stack the deck in favor of Judo.  Judo CAN lose, and lose bad, to BJJ.  The first video link I think has some sage advice from the Judoka grappling with Chambers.

I hope these links help; if you can get a hold of videos of BJJ tourneys your opponent competed in, and you can analyze his gameplan, do so.  It may help you prepare so that you can anticipate any of his attacks.  Regarding the last link; I am not familiar with the Jiu Jitsu brothers (Judo, BJJ, Sambo, regular JJ, etc)  but, towards the end of the third video presented, that looked like a very painful armlock that Helio applied, all because Kato got careless, and did not play the stand up game enough.

Ultimately though these videos know what they're talking about, whereas I don't so I'll shut up and let you watch now.

hope they help, find those vids of your opponent and good luck.

  7. Stay on your feet.  Take him down as much as possible to score points.

They will try to pull you down into guard, and that is where they can do some nasty stuff.

Never put your hands on the mat if you are on top, you are asking to be submitted.

  8. take em down and let them up
