  1. one that is shaped/customized to your style and the type of waves you surf.

  2. one thats still in 1 piece .... need more info about you, your level, location, etc

  3. southcoast longboards

  4. A fish. They are good in all conditions, and not too sticky. They turn better and they are fast. Not so good for real hollow surf. Twin fin, quad, or trifin, setips all work great. Some new boards even have extra plugs to change your fins up.

  5. That's  like asking what is the best religion to practice. There were way too many things to know about you and where you might surf to answer that question.

I guess the simplest answer is any board you can ride. 'Tis better to surf on a piece of xxxx board than never to surf at all. Aside from that, I have owned two custom made boards in the last forty years, and they are ideal. They were shaped for the waves at the breaks I ride, and my body type (too big). One was a 6'4" twin fin in about 1971, the other is a 7'8" twin fin fish I ride now. I also ride a nice 9'4" and a cool 7'6" fun board (both with three fins).

If you can already surf, and know what size board you like (or want) the most, find a good local shaper and be sure to avoid sleazy, mass produced popouts.
