Question:

Whats the best surfboard to get after about 1 year of surfing experience?

Had 8 foot board sold it and got 6'6 fish was alright. Live in southern california and not sure if I should get a funboard or what. If I get a funboard could I still walk the nose or no.

  1. a light longboard.  One of those tuflights, and take it easy as you paddle for the wave.


  2. Well, it all depends on if you want to shortboard or longboard. If you want to longboard, get a longer board like 8'6. Then you will definetly be able to walk the nose. Or, get a smaller fish. Like 6'. I wouldnt reccommend a funboard though becuase you basically just stand there...why do what you can already do when you can get better??

  4. Try a 7' 2" and yes you could, with some practice, still get tricky. Try to rent a board for a day and see if that will work for you or borrow someone's.

    Ash makes a great point - there are several factors to consider - at the top of the list would be what you intend to use the board for. Going shorter isn't necessarily the route to being a better surfer. A lot of it depends on your ability and what type of waves you'll be in.
