  1. I like Ryan L's answer. You can get good components for the money you want to spend. Sony and Bose are low end and well suited for double wides and RV's. People buy them without even listening or reading the reviews.

Stereo shopping is fun. Bring a few cd's and spend a day and go to a few shops. You will enjoy the time and be a lot smarter about your choices.

    Good luck!

  2. Bose at Sam's Club. I bought mine at around $797.

  3. the yamaha / klipsch package at best buy for $900 a very good entry level system.

  4. if you really want to get in the game or your movie go for a Sony....and they are in the $500 and$700.....(for a good one)

    the sound it's really sharp.....and clear....good luck!!!

  5. The question you asked is very broad. It would be nice if you could narrow down your search for what you want, since there are literally hundreds of good options for you in this price range.

One thing is what kind of a setup are you looking for?

Here are some various setup options and a few suggestions for each type of system:

    1. All-In-One HTIB (Home Theater In a Box)

These units have a receiver with a built in DVD player and come with everything you need to get started. Most newer systems have an upscaling dvd player for HDTVs. They generally take up less space and use satellite speakers (bose sized). You can get these with floorstanding speakers as well.

    -suggestions

       - Panasonic SC-PT 950

       - Sony DAVHDX500

    2. Component HTIB

These units have a standalone receiver and may or may not come with a dvd player. They, too, come with everything you need. Most of these will come in either 5.1(5 speakers, 1 sub) or 7.1(7 speakers, 1 sub) speaker setups. The speakers are usually either satellite speakers or bookshelf speakers.

    -suggestions

       -Onkyo HT-SR800 (7.1)

       -Harman/Kardon CP-40 (5.1)

    3. Component System

This kind of system is essentially a custom setup. Instead of having everything bundled in a box you purchase everything separately and make it perfect for your own personal needs. For this setup you have to purchase a receiver, speaker set (or individuals), a dvd player (if needed), and all the necessary cables. While this might be more complicated, the systems are generally better than any HTIB options. This is the kind of setup I personally recommend.

    I recommend getting:

    -Onkyo TX-SR 605 receiver (499.99)

-Polk Audio RM6750 speaker set (249.99)

The latter setup would give you the best audio quality and performance options for the price.

  6. bose if you can get one in that price range if not then the sony dream machine lineup of home cinema equipment is very good indeed!
