Whats the best temeratres for a leopard gecko?

i was looking at my thermomitur for hte warm side and it was 100 degrees f and the cool side was like 82. how do i lower the temerature of the hot side? is 100 to hot?

  1. Yes, 100 is far too hot.  The hottest temperature you want it to be is 92... and the hot range should be somewhere between 88-92 degrees.  If it's that hot, I'd suggest trying a different wattage bulb or getting an inline light dimmer switch from the lighting department.  You can also get a dimmer that you can plug your light into.  Either way, you really need to get the temps down 10 degrees into a safer range.  You don't want your gecko to get dehydrated and stressed from the very high temps.

    Also, I'd suggest getting a digital thermometer if you don't have one.  The stick on kind can be up to 25 degrees off what the actual temperature is in the hottest spot in the tank.  A cheap digital will run you about $10.. and well worth the cost.


  2. Its pretty hot but as long as there is a coolor side he/she should be just fine. Keep an eye on the gecko and make sure its eating and drinking well. Good Luck!
