Lived there for 3 years while in the military....

Here's what you do:

Get a pack and put some extra socks and underwear, toothbrush and stuff like that. Go to any random train station and pick any random town even if it's in the middle of nowhere and you've never heard of it. (the little towns are the best) Just show up in town and find a bar. Go in and strike up a conversation with someone and start talking about how much you love Germany and want to have a good time and all that.

Dude..they will treat you like a king 100% of the time. I had men offer me their dates with their daughters, free room and board, drinks....driving their $90,000 porsche on the autobahn...you name it. Learn some german before you go and make an attempt to speak the language and they will respect and take care of you unless you run into some wannabe n**i'z or something but you can see them coming...they chave their heads and have mohawks and stuff.

Go to the big towns like Nuerenberg and Stuttgart for the night life...I wouldn't recommend Frankfurt...too much trouble with scams last time i was there. There's a town called Bad Nuestadt and Hammelberg I strongly recommend. Go to the eastern part of Germany to a club called Vega's if you want to meet some absolutely gorgeous women and if you get a chance, go to the Czech republic and hit Prague for a day. have fun

I do not recommend Octoberfest either. Way too many people and way too expensive and way too much time to get a drink.

Find a monastery. They make and serve great Hefe Weisen....

That depends on, what your interests are.

Girls? - Go to towns with huge universities, they speak English

History? - Depends what time, middle ages-Rothenburg .o.T

Sports? - depends what sport

Germany is not so different, then the US. People respect you, if you respect them. If you have money to rent a car, you can have some fun on the Autobahn, going 130 miles/hr. Or if you want to see some real old castles, take a tour of the Rhine Valley between Ruedesheim and Cologne.

If you go there, to have fun on their account, that can back fire, I wouldn't recommend it.

But in any case, you should read up a bit on the stuff, you are interested in, there are plenty of web sites.
