  1. go turtle, never ditch your board if you can avoid it especially at a crowded break.  a loose board can hit you or even worse the people around you.  even if you don't hit anyone your leash can snap leaving you stranded.  when you go turtle make sure that you are hanging as far up on the nose of you board as possible so that the wave breaks over the board and doesn't rip it out of your hands.  if the nose is above the water the board will be ripped out of your hands.  by the way, what exactly makes your board flamboyant? is it covered in glitter and sequins?

  2. Turn turtle. Seems scary but flip you and your board over so you are underwater upside down with your legs straddled around the board and gripping the rails as strong as you can, kind of like an eskimo roll in a kayak. Otherwise you just have to ditch it and swim under.

  3. My lighter is flamboyant and it is a Bic also. I wonder why you have a surfboard made by a lighter manufacturer. BUY LOCAL!

  4. if its a really big wave than ditch the board and dive under. or throw the board over the wave and jump through

  5. Watch a surfing video until you see something similar and then go back out and try until you are positive you are doing it the right way,the way you want it, and most importantly the way that helps you improve.

  6. Turtle!

Flip over and have your board cover your body. Make sure you have a very tight grip on your board so that it can protect you. Practice it on small waves if your scared. (i know i was at first) but it really helps, specially in October and NOv, when the waves are effing harsh. If the wave is too big and you know you cant make it, turtle!  Thats the only way you'll survive that, without a bunch of saltwater in your throat.

Take the suf mans advice only on small waves that you can manage to jump over w/ your board. on big waves, always turtle.

  7. put your board to the side and dive under the wave, as pro surf said, throw the board over the wave, as pro surf said, or you could push on the back of your board kinda slanting your board upwards toward the white water and than just paddle... good luck, not being able to duck dive must stink...

  8. either try going further up the nose to duck dive  or turtle
