  1. Probation or parole officer is a common sociologically oriented field. The higher your degree though opens up more possibilities. After the masters level, there are teaching and research opportunities and then with doctorates comes the chance to do more advanced research or higher level teaching.

  2. Take it to the public bathrooms and stand outside being the watchguard for g*y s*x acts then rename yourself Mr. Humphrey and call the study the TEA ROOM TRADE.

Note. This MAY have already taken place

Nah, kidding, market research sounds relevant. There is nothing particularly specific to do with a sociology degree. Maybe go into politics, your degree would give you an advantage there?

    Good luck!

  3. This is a hard question to answer without more information. I guess it depends on who you are, what you like, where you live, and a variety of other factors.

Many people will say that teaching is a good profession to go into. But that requires advanced education and jobs are very competitive.

I think market research is probably one of the best areas to go into with a sociology degree. For one, they usually appreciate your skills and you are required to use them for your job. Two, you have the opportunity to study interesting subjects. Although sometimes, you have to work on projects you have no interest in like why people buy a certain type of soap.  Nevertheless, these jobs can also pay very well.  I have been paid as much as $50 per hour to work on certain research projects.

I think the government is also a great place to look for jobs. They pay well and validate the fact that you have a degree.

    Hope this helps.

  4. A degree in sociology is a very useful degree. It shows that you are capable of complex, abstract reasoning, able to conduct research utilising various methodologies, and, on a more pragmatic level, work hard and stick at it for 3 or 4 years.

These are skills that will be valuable in business, social work, teaching, research, or any of a million other professions.

It's a shame most sociology graduates go into teaching or social work of some kind.

    I have a degree in sociology... and I am a teacher :-)
