For my last birthday, my girlfriend got me a rugby jersey from a small club by her hometown in Slovakia.  It was by far the best birthday present I had ever had.

True rugby players love having jerseys that nobody else has.

If you don't know too much about rugby it may be safer not to attempt something too rugby-ish. In saying that, a rugby magazine subscription would be fairly safe. In UK look for Rugby World, NZ has Rugby News or Rugby Monthly. Others I'm not  sure.
