Whats the best things to have in my hand luggage?

Im going on holiday tomorrow =]] and I need help on what the best things are that I need to put in my hand luggage?? plz answer with some tips... before tomoro!

i usually bring my ipod, cellphone, a bunch of magazines, a book, chapstick, a hoodie, laptop, hand sanitizer, a small roll of toilet paper ( you can usually find this in the travel section of like target) makeup, hand lotion, make up remover sheets and the oil free sheet things

Alright, i always carry extra pair of socks and underwear, just incase my checked baggage gets lost, stolen, put n the wrong plane, that kind of deal.  I bring my toiletry, like toothbrush toothpaste, deodarnt and my contact solutions and case holder along with an extra pair of glasses.  I also bring a sweater incase im cold on the plane and some things to make my trip more enjoyable like a book, ipod, crossword puzzles.  And I also bring my camera and chargers with me as well, I dont like that in my luggage incase it gets stole or doesnt arrive, plus I like taking pics when taking off and landing at my destination.

Bring some kleenex/tissues and hand wipes those come in handy as well.  Journal and pen/pencil.  I also bring toilet paper with me, but thats b/c most places ive travelled I either have to pay for it or not available, so I carry my own supply just in case!!!  And make up if you wear any.  I usually dont bring make up with me when traveling except for some eyeshadow, eyeliner and chapstick to protect them against UV rays.  And since I travel alone, I like to bring a pack of cards... great way to meet people, or to just play games if you are bored.
