September. It isn't so hot then and schools are open, so they're aren't as many tourist. :)

Well if you want to explore just the countries historic landmarks,

museums and cities the best time is at Fall or Spring.

If you are in to winter sports you should come in January.

If sun and sea are all you have in mind and want to enjoy any island sinking with tourists you should come in August or July.

Finally if you want the sandy beaches but don't like the crowd and want to save some money, visit Greece in September.
