  1. Oh, that kills me, ... 800m a distance runner.. does that mean my 5 miles this evening is ultradistance?

Anyway, 2 weeks to go for the race.

I cant give you a daily plan because I dont like them and I dont know your lifestyle - for example, do you always go out on a monday and wednesday? It would be useless for me to say also run on those nights wouldnt it?

Anyway, here are some general tips

Make sure you can run the race distance easily. If you can run, for example 1200m then with an 800m race you arnt goignt o get tired towards the end - meaning that your speed will be even all the way round and no slowing towards the end. To do this do a session where you run 1600m, then rest and recover and repeat

Speed training - do repeated short sprints, 200 and 400m with a rest and repeat

Strength training - find a hill and run up it hard, jog down to recover and repeat

overspeed training - go back to your hill and jog up it then run down

Anyway, you can do a few of these sessions before the race as and when you can.

If you can run anyway then the training should have looked after itself - you should have the speed and stamina allready, but keep at it for the next 2 weeks. Make sure your training sessions are long enough to go out and do (I would say at least 30 minutes a session to make it worth changing befiore and after and shower after)

The other things you should cionsider, like you said is food and things the day before the race.

You should visualise winning the race, and overtaking people as you go round the track, visuals the feeling of winning the race

    The night before sleep well

Not sure about foods to eat, but nothing too heavy - you should have the energy reserves to run for 2 minutes easily without anything special (what do you normally eat before you train? Eat the same)

  2. ok, well for food i suggest protein, good carbs, and good fats, like omega 3. (u get these from fish or pills) also, avoid processed foods and sugars.

i run 800s and the best thing you can do is distance training and speed work. i would follow this schedule

    week 1:

    mon-distance 2 miles

    tues- distance 1 1/2 miles

wed- speed 400's (10) 1 minute rest  in between each 400

    thurs- distance one mile

    fri-off

sat- speed 800's (5) 2 minutes rest in between each

    sun distance 3 miles (slow)

    week 2:

    mon- distance 2 miles

    tuesday- distance 2 1/2 miles

wed- speed 200's (5) and 100's (5) jog a 200 in between each then a 30 second rest after that

    thurs-distance 1 mile

    fri- off

    sat- distance 1 1/2 mile

    sun- distance 1 mile

the day before the race run an easy one mile

this training will definatlay help and best of luck to you at ur race! :)
