try an all night bus... its fun, they have in "drive" movies and will get you there in one night.  Get to see a bit of Indian counryside on the way and its also one of the cheapest forms of transport

Well, considering that your country has not too much in the way of modern infrastructure, I suppose oxcart is one way-- maybe the only way. Cost should be not in excess of ten kilos of hay for the cow and a live chicken for the driver. Bring your own toilet paper. It is not provided by the transportation company...

I would not take a train if I were you. I read in the newspapers how Indian trains have a nasty habit of going off trestles and hundreds die in the crash and fire that follows.
