luthier made = a guy in Kansas.

My favorite is my Takamine.  The best is a matter of preference.  Some prefer a dark sound..more mellow like Washburn.

Some prefer les paul for a stylized sound.

If you are looking for a very light weight great sounding guitar Rainsong is state of the art.  All graphite guitars with no bracing and conduct an amplified sound in a way that wood guitars cannot.

I tend to like Gretsch and Rickenbacker.

ummm...ibanez, Martin, Gibson songwriter, washburn. all of these are pretty much top notch. all you have to do is pick one. good luck
