starting to collect.. which is the best?

It depends on what you like. Do you like space men, guns and the like, the try Warhammer 40,000. (usually referred to as Warhammer 40k, or WH40K). if you like more historical, magic and swords, try Warhammer. (usually called WH) if you like Lord Of The Rings (called LOTR) then try it, although this has been said to be very easy, and that Games Workshop might stop making it as soon as the contract stops.

Go to your local Games Worskhop store, ask to try one, or all of the systems and talk to one of the staff memebrs, as they all play these, and are willing to help.
