Home depot and other stores have this hornet killing spray that shoots like 20 feet. Use it and spray the nest when they are quiet (like in the evening). Be ready to run back into the house once you spray it.

hey i have done this myself!!~ well since i live in alaska it is legal to shoot 22s and 30-30 guns anywhere. sooo you should get a bb gun and shoot it a couple hundred times! or if you have a hose like a water hose then you should spray the bees hive if it is close enough.  dont waste your money on the exterminater when it costs 500$ for something you could do for free!  dont worry if you shoot it from about 50 feet away with your bb gun or pellet gun the bees wont attack you!  and if you are using the water hose if will water the bees wings down so they cant fly well i hope that helps!!!

Listen to Stache Man and use the spray - in my experience they work great if it's not a huge infestation or anything like that which needs an actual professional exterminator.

Once you spray the nest down good, check it after a day or two and the wasps/hornets should be pretty much dead and gone and you can knock down the nest. If you still see some hanging around when you check it, spray it again and give it another day or two.
