I am hoping to become an airline pilot. i am currently a high school senior and i was wondering the best way to get to my ATP license. I will be obtaining my private pilots license in the summer and i was wondering what i should do from there. I am thinking of attedning Fox Valley Technical College-Oshkosh, the heart of the flying community, to reach my Flight Instructor license.

What are good ways/jobs to gain flight hours, and what is a good approach, as far as schooling, for reaching my ATP license?

  1. ask the school were you are learning privately and they should have all the answers

  2. Your already on track, and in the right direction.

    Private

    Instrument

    Commerial SEL

    Comm MEL

    CFI

    Instruct to build hours

Get hired by a regional/charter company.

get hrs required to get ATP.

    upgrade to capt.

Build more hours in faster, turbine powered a/c

    upgrade to majors

    or..

    go in military with private

    go to basic

use GI bill to pay for college

    get degree

    go to OCS

    go to undergrad pilot training

    go to flight school

    go to unit

    go to war

    get out 7yrs later

get job with regional, charter company, or major airline.

  3. lol just dont go to Embry RIddle whatever you do florida is nice but ER blows

  4. When you get your CFI rating you'll be able to gain hours by instructing and earn some money as well. That's probably the best way to get in the hours required for an ATP license.

  5. goooooooooooooo  air force, yeah

  6. You don't need to worry about the ATP until you have 1500 hours.  So, just concentrate on building time and getting your other ratings.  If you get a job at a regional or other airline before you get your ATP, they will give it to you for free when you become a captain.  It's the same test either way, so you don't need to do any additional schooling.

  7. You're doing the right thing.  Once you're a Cerftified Flight Instructor (CFI) you'll be doing all the teaching and earning hours as Pilot In Command (PIC).

This is the way 90% of the ATP's get there outside of the military.

I just wish I knew this when I was your age.  :(
