Whats the best way to advertise painting services?

Ive been a painter for a few years and am trying to do it on my own and am looking for any advice on how to get the word out. I don't have much capital for expensive advertising.

OK an add in the paper might help u some business cards in major stores  like Kroger  tomb thumb and other business with a bulletin board  putting card on the window of car at the mall  or an add in the phone book

Get some business cards (our wife should be able to print some from the computer..maybe a friend of hers could help ;)  ).  Leave them where ever you go locally. Pin them to notice boards, leave some at the local shop, at the pub and pass them around to your friends.

Our school has an advertising section in their newsletter (cheap) try the sporting clubs as well.  Put a home painted sign up on your front fence.

Who ever you see and where ever you go leave your verbal advertising.

Craigslist is a great place to start. You could also place ads in the local newspaper (online or print). Or start a website and submit it to all of the major search engines.
