  1. well the best bait i kno is...raw shrimp...and stickbait...but i lik shrimp more..cuz when u throw it...the shrimp smells.. and have blood in it

and u kno..catfishes are scavengers..so then they smell the blood of the shrimp..and they eat it.. and u have a bite.. good luck fishin..oh yea another thing if u dont kno....when u fish for cats u must fish deep..

  2. Anything on the bottom works for catfish - they are always moving around in a body of water NOT just in the deep areas. We have caught them almost anywhere in a lake - in a river look for the area where there is a lot of cover where the water would swirl around so anything in the water like dead fish or other things would congregate.

I have seen catfish caught on the following things...

cut up a bar of soap (normally used on trot lines), night crawlers a few on a good size hook,  stink bait from Wal-Mart,  spoiled shrimp

catch a fish cut it up for cut bait - my fav is a small bluegill cut in half - with a size 1 hook and braided 30lb line (so it's about as thick as 10 or 12lb monofiliment line.

Frozen mackerel works very well too - cut a strip off and put it on a hook - it has a very fishy smell so they love it... their eyesight is very poor so catfish use their sense of smell to find food.

I have even caught channel cats off of spinner baits - thought I had a monster bass - it was a 2lb channel cat.

Can't go wrong with night crawlers (Wal-Mart) and they're easy to get or try some of the other things that I mentioned - remember to use  sinker to get and keep the bait near the bottom - wouldn't hurt to move the bait every 5-10 minutes (only if you try casting it out and leaving it there and nothing bites)

Remember fishing is a waiting game - you're waiting for them to find the bait or to eat the bait - so be patient - and this is very true for catfish.

Hold on to your pole too or you will lose it - they'll drag it into the water they are very strong!!
