  1. a hot wet cloth then a dry cloth

  2. If it's not varnished, polish the wood with steel wool.  It makes it super smooth.

  3. damp (not wet) towel is what I use and then wipe dry with another towel. Do this after play and don't let a little grime become a big deal to where you need a pro refinish.

  4. by using a damp cloth follow by a dry one, the later meant to remove the moisture.

sure, you won't get rid of those blue chalk stains accumulated over the years, but this simple method does the job of leaving your cue smooth while cueing.

  5. I agree with the damp towel and dry quickly method.  Here's something that a lot of folks don't know.  Windex actually works quite well for cleaning cues.  It won't harm anything.  Just be sure that whatever you do, don't ever get anything on the leather tip itself.  Be very careful when cleaning up your ferrule.  You'll know if you're chalking improperly if you get that blue ring around the middle of your ferrule.  If you're chalking correctly, the ferrule should stay much cleaner.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

  6. I use a damp washcloth with a little bit of powdered detergent on it . I wrap some scotch tape around the tip , don't wanna get that wet. After I scrub the shaft aggressively I immediately dry it with a Squeege cloth. The kind you use on your car. Then I finish it off with the scotch brite. This method works pretty good for me. The detergent helps get all of that old chalk off. looks like new when I'm done.

  7. Both ans --damp towel first then S wool I like scotch brite better but either one will do

Like Kevin says dont wait till you need a bench grinder
