  1. Create a baking soda and water paste. Rub it into the area and apply distilled white vinegar over it. Blot this up with clean white towels, and repeat it no more than two times. Follow that with a good rinsing of water, blotting up the moisture. It will smell like vinegar for a short time, but the urine smell should not come back.

And here is two 'old wives' recipe

Sprinkle corn starch on the area and spray it with water to just dampen it. It is unbelievable how well this draws out the urine and there is no lingering smell.

Pour clear rubbing alcohol on the spots. It gets rid of the odor and dries quickly.

  2. Things You’ll Need:

    Several soft cloths

    Carpet or upholstery cleaner

    Baking soda

    Step1

Open the windows in the room to get the air moving and to help dry the mattress. Turn on a ceiling or oscillating fan as well.

    Step2

Soak up as much of the urine as you can with a dry towel.

    Step3

Clean the mattress with a carpet and upholstery cleaner. Scrub with a soft cloth and then soak up any excess fluids with a dry towel.

    Step4

Let the mattress air dry. This may take about 24 hours, depending on how wet it was.

    Step5

Spray the mattress with an odor remover spray. Be sure and cover the entire area and a little bit outside of it.

    Step6

    Let the mattress dry.

    Step7

Sprinkle baking soda on the mattress if it still smells. Let it sit for 24 hours and then vacuum it off.

    ______________

    Warning!

Wait until the mattress is completely dry before using the odor remover spray.

Do not mix cleaning products. They can have chemical reactions that can be harmful or fatal.

  3. If you have one, use the upholstery cleaner attachment on the carpet cleaner machine to use soap and water. If you don't have one, pour some white vinegar on the area to sanitize, deodorize and break down the ammonia in the urine so the dog does not come back to that spot then sop up the excess with a towel. Dragging it into the sunshine to dry would be ideal too as that will really freshen it up and allow the vinegar to dry more quickly.
