Whats the best way to clear your name?

I got accused a month ago of saying something I didnt by a distant cousin who I hardly know anyway. Anyway, I saw her on facebook.Do you all think I should message her to say, "look, Im sorry that you thought it was me, but it wasnt" sort of thing, or should I just forget it. I need to clear my name, but i want to be nice about it too.

Yes, definitely be nice about it.  

If you can't PROVE your innocence, then I would just leave it.  For many people, if you just repeat that you are innocent, without adding additional evidence, it kinda makes you sound more guilty.

Bottom line: Announce only once that you didn't do it.  If you haven't announced it, then sure, let them know.  But otherwise, I limit my not guilty pleas to only one per accusation.

you should confront her over the phone personally etc... ask her what would be her reaction or what would she do in a situation like yours ,what would she do in the situation ,what does she think of the person who does this type of ****. then after she answers put her in her place ,and ,or whoop her ***,being that she distant she shouldn't feel the pain of the distant *** whooping .

If she is a distant cousin well then who cares. I would leave it at that. You didn't say it. If you did well then maybe she would deserve an apology however; you didn't say it so like the man below says, "forget it."

I think you should explain yourself, then forget about it. People that know you and love you won't be influenced by this, but it is a good feeling to try to set the facts straight.
