I dont eat meat so I don't know the best way to cook it. I bought ground beef and fresh tuna for my 15 month old. My husband cooked it for him once and he loved it, now I want to but how do you cook it? Also can I freeze the tuna and cook some later? Can I add seasonings? Thanks!

  1. Try making meatballs for your son. Combine the meat with an egg, handful of breadcrumbs and a diced onion. Make into small balls and cook them on the stove in a lightly greased frying pan.

I haven't cooked tuna yet for my daughter (she is 16 months old), so not sure about that one, sorry. But I have made white fish for her (tilapia), just add a little salt, pepper and garlic and bbq (or bake or broil) it. Yes, you can freeze fresh fish (if it wasn't pre-frozen before).

Here is a link that I got a few recipes for my toddler from, it also has very useful information.

    Happy cooking :)

  2. NO TUNA until your child is 2years of age!!!! She my develop an allergy to it. Please talk to your pediatrician about this. It is very important not to give your child any fish of any kind until she is 2.

  3. Don't give him too much tuna, high levels of mercury.

EDIT- Sorry your husband is in Iraq.  Thanks to your family.

  4. I have never cooked tuna but I use ground beef a lot.  I take about a pound of beef, 1 egg, 1/2 cup of dry bread crumbs or crushed cornflakes and sometimes some grated carrot or chopped onion or whatever else.  I also add about 2 tablespoons of steak sauce.  Mix it up using your hands ( I wear latex gloves) and form small meatballs.  Cook them in a pan until no longer pink inside, turning frequently.  You can pack them into small baggies and freeze for future use.  My son (16 mons) eats about 5 or 6 at a meal.

    Hope that helps.

  5. try tuna helper and put hamburger in to mac and cheese my kids love it spaghetti is another favorite good luck!

  6. Well, you could have hubby keep cooking it.

If you want to do it yourself,  just season the fish or meat with any spices or seasonings you like (garlic, herbs, pepper, lemon, etc.), and cook on the stove.  You could make the hamburg into a patty, or saute it crumbled (you could add tomato sauce and make a sloppy-joe type dish, or serve it over pasta/rice.).
