Whats the best way to deal with a disrespectful dad?

Given the nature of the detail you chose to include, it sounds like you've already decided on a way. If you're looking for approval, you don't need it. You know your situation with your father, if it warrants cutting off all contact then just do it and don't feel guilty about it.

Though I'd want to make sure it's warranted before taking that final step. It's a big step, and a hard one to come back from if you change your mind later on down the road. If there's anything to your relatiionship with your father that you like or enjoy, that will come to haunt you later on down the road and cause you doubt.

So just think about it awhile before taking the final leap away from your dad. Some dads don't deserve the love and affection of their children, maybe yours is one of them. I'm sorry for you if that's the case, though as with anyone, I hope it's not the case for you and that you can find something to value in your relationship.
