  1. you can house a skunk with the chicken, but then the chickens mght die from the smell. I really have not heard of a way to do this.

  2. We have pens with 8 foot high fencing. But the best thing I've ever invested in is the electrified wire. 10" off the floor and 10" from the fence is a single strand of wire and its powered by just two D cell batteries. It kicks out a whopping 5000V on my pens...  See http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hotline-HLB100-SHR...

The materials will cost about £15-£20 and the unit costs between £60-£70 depending on where you buy it from and the batteries last apx 6-8 weeks. But it works fantastically - its seen of 3 foxes (and thats just the ones I know about!). If it saves the chickens its money well spent :-)

  3. Might not be the answer you want to hear but the most effective way is to sit up at night with a gun and shoot em.

  4. 6ft rooster.

  5. I us an electric fence and a battery powered ultrasonic fox deterrent device which I found via this site:

    http://www.henkeeping.co.uk/guide.html (see left hand column).

I also get my other half to pee around the area, the scent of male urine is supposed to also act as a deterrent to foxes.

You could also collect hair from the barbers, pack it into tights and hang them around your chicken coop and run. Foxes avoid areas where there's human scent.

  6. My uncle had a Bobcat/Fox problem with his chickens he had to fence in the whole thing. Maybe motion lights those come to mind. Good luck!
