Whats the best way to dry out cattails so they dont fly everywher when dried?

ive heard hairspray or laquer//? these will be for placing in a living room vase or awildplant arrangement..thanks all you crafters or flower people....

pick the cattails when they are young-got some now 3 years old and they do not open-no treatment

Actually hairspray works really good.  Just buy an inexpensive one and do not spray too close to the plant.  It is better to spray from a distance and spray two or three times than to get the plant too drippy.
