Should i use my bank card to get the best rates or will I get a fair rate at the airport? I'm quite happy to turn up with no money as I believe it will be hard to find somewhere in the UK to exchange my GBP but would like it if I could change it as soon as i arrive.

  1. Gambia has quite a weak currency. When I was there there was not a single ATM in the country, and no currency exchange at the airport (it was a year ago, so may have changed).

You will never get a great deal for currency exchange, but the safest and usually the best way is to take £ sterling and exchange it in the Hotel you are staying in.

You can order currency in advance from eg. Marks and Spencer currency exchange, but I do not know anywhere that keeps their currency in Stock and the order can take up to 2 weeks to process

  2. probably at the airport for a small amount but when you get to where your going you will find banks or even ask the locals they are very helpful and will get you the best exchange.....maybe for a price but your money will go a long way and its good to have local people working in your favor
