I think a social r****d threw my bike into the canal, I can see a bike which may be mine. I would like to get that bike back rather then get a new one, so don't just say get a new bike.

The lock is deep and I can see the back wheel. I don't even know who I can ask for help, there's no people living in the house near it, it's a cafe now I know the owners and they have no idea. Did this happen to anyone before?

I know someone with two canoes but I'm fairly sure they would capsize.

As many suggestions as possible would be brillant but I'm not going to hold my breath.

  1. You cantry to fish it out with a strong hook on the end of a rope, but ask a friend to help you haul it up.

  2. Hook on the end of a rope!!!

  3. if you can reach it with a rake (garden rake) take someone with you if your young, and try to hook the tire with the rake and pull it out.

or since you got access to a canoe you could row out to it, tie a rope round the tire and pull it out from the bank. it would  be a lot easier, but you will have to give it a real rea REAL good clean once it's out, most canals are very poluted, and have all sorts of nasty things in there.

  4. It is hard to follow this. If you can see the bike on the bottom it cannot be 20ft down. Canal water is not that clear. As others have said, if you can see it, just throw a hook on a rope until you catch it then pull. This should work unless the bike is somehow attached to something down there.

  5. It is quite simple.................................. tie a hook onto a length of rope.

B & Q sell rope. A hook could be made from an old piece of strong wire or you could buy an old grappleing hook.

  6. u may have to swim down, attatch a rope and then haul it out from the banks. must be a good bike for all the trouble

  7. Find the phone number for British Waterways in your area and tell them, they will want to remove it because of the possibility of damaging a boat or the lock gates.
