Most CFL teams hold open tryouts in the spring. Check their web pages. However you usually have to pay an application fee, and few are ever chosen from those tryouts. The CFL scouts keep very good track of potentially good players who are cut by the NFL. The smaller US colleges that don't get much media attention are also a good source of talent overlooked by the NFL, aside from CIS football. The fact is, CFL clubs pretty much know who they want on their teams.

Contact the team's office and ask if they will have a camp that "walk ons" can attend.  You'd be surprised how many people make teams in that way.

You need to get cut from an NFL team, then go up to Canada, like Ricky Ray did--twice.

If you are undersized and the NFL has rejected you and you are from a good football school, you have a good chance to get in.
