Whats the best way to get in shape for field hockey season?

  1. I don't know much about Field Hockey but the best thing I can think of is to do a lot of running


  2. There isn't one way to get in shape for field hockey. Field hockey requires many parts of you to stay in shape.  There are so much exercise things you can do for field hockey, because field hockey brings your arms, legs, butt, and other body parts in to it.

    Running is a huge thing I field hockey, as I’m sure you know, depending on you coach the amount of running varies. But most of the time I hear people run from 1-3 miles. To get in shape for running the best thing you can do is just run. Run regularly. TIP: If you have a treadmill, then that’s good, but don’t only run on that because running on the dirt, grass, and rocks to get that feel for it.

    One thing I do is in my back yard (because its big enough), I drive as far as I can, then sprint to the ball, drive it back, sprint, and so on.

    Other ways to get in shape is swimming. Swimming is low impact, cardio, and it gets many parts of your body going. Also biking is good for you legs. One thing I do sometimes is while I’m watching TV I get low, in field hockey position, and when you stand in the stance for a long time, you really feel it. Challenge your self to stay in the stance longer then you did the time before. Also wall sits.

    Another thing is just play around with a ball and a stick. Do it as much as you can, make up your own drills, do drills you did in your old leagues. Do the basics, and evaluate your self, see what you need to practice, practice with other people. Just playing around can help you.

  5. i play field hockeyy and what i try to do is run alot. swim all the timee because swimming is a great workout. bike riding is really good for your legs.

    oh & don't forget to pratice your stick work too. :]

  6. well i dont know anything about field hockey but the best way to get in shape is probably swimming in a pool if you have one at your house or in town.  its hardwork, but its fun at the same time!

  7. field hockey sucks. Ice hockey is  at least 10x better.

  8. I would say probably hitting the treadmill and doing a lot of cardio.
