Whats the best way to get into programming?

Hey everyone, I'm a teenager looking into desktop programming. I'm currently pretty good with PHP, MySQL, HTML, and I'm getting better with Javascript. What's the best way to dive into programming, mainly for the OS X platform. Thanks in advanced!

First, finish learning JavaScript. Then pick up some books on programming languages.

It certainly depends on what type of programming you want to get into. Javascript is a prototypical language versus php5 is a semi-object oriented language. It sounds like you want to be a web programmer. Web programmers have a lot to cover: html, css, javascript, your choice of programming language(php, .net, jsp, etc.), and then SQL.

I recommend finish learning javascript and then move onto learning C# or Java which are very object oriented languages. PHP will seem like cake after learning those languages.
