  1. Go and buy a box of those lady bugs =)

They look after your plant and kill any other pests.

You can get boxes of lady bugs in plant warehouses.

  2. good morning.

The principal pests on guava in Florida are redbanded thrips, Caribbean fruit fly, guava moth, and guava whitefly. Scale insects may also intermittently infest guava plantings.

Insecticides and miticides registered for use on Florida guava include azadirachtin (Azatin®), Beauveria bassiana (Mycotrol®), Bacillus thuringiensis, fenoxycarb (Logic® - for ants on non-bearing trees only), spinosad (SpinTor®), malathion, pyrethrin + rotenone (Pyrellin®), pyrethrin, crop oil, and insecticidal soap. Insecticides available for wax jambu include crop oil, insecticidal soap, azadirachtin, spinosad (SpinTor®).

    I hope this helps

  3. Your problem is probably not grasshoppers (perhaps small numbers of locusts and depending on your geographic location).  Caterpillars are a common culprit in situations like this.  Catch one for identification and go to the site listed in my source for reliable id and treatment.
