Whats the best way to get rid of spiders and spider webs in your house?

I have 3 cats and a baby- so I dont want anything that could be harmful to them...

A friend of mine said she had spiders so I was doing some research for her and here are somethings I found:

1. Cats are good for getting rid of spiders (they chase anything according to the text)

2. Remove cardboard or wood, they love it.

3. Spiders love cool, dark places so try to keep baby away from there.

When I had spiders I sprayed the house with spider and insect spray and then put some outside the house too in a pebble form... it worked because it keep other insects out too.
