  1. The following site might help you study up, I suggest the website:

    http://www.free-ed.net/free-ed/

I'm helping my husband get his GED, and we're using this class to prepare for it. I'm actually going to try the CLEP (College Equivalence), and am using the class as a refresher, since I've been out of school for seven years.

They have a class that is very comprehensive, starting with the most basic of concepts and working the way up from there. They also have other areas where you can just focus on a certain subject. They even have "degree studies" for health care and others.

They don't distribute degrees, but they are free classes that will greatly help you prepare for your tests and schooling. And is is all online, for you to do at your own schedule.

  2. First you take the preliminary exam to see if you are deficient in one or more subjects.  If you are they will recommend a course of study.  IF you pass the preliminary exams you will get scheduled for the GED Tests.

    Good Luck!

  3. First contact a school that offers it, like a Junior (or community) College.  The office will let you know what papers you need to get started.  I had to have a legal release from the last school I attended, but if you've always been homeschooled, I'm not sure how that would work.  But I promise, it's a simple process.  I accomplished it totally on my own at 16.

After that it's a series of tests.  I dropped out of HS at 16 and got my GED with honors (yeah, they do that) with no preparation.  If it's been awhile since you've been in school, or if you're just not that confident in your smarts, I'd take a GEP prep class first, which are usually offered by the same institutions that offer the GED.

So step one: call your local community college!
