Id like to race F1 or the BTCC (British Touring Car Championship). Please help. I would appreciate a racing driver or kart racer to help.

  1. If it was me and I was in Europe, I'd stick with any type of formula car that someone would give me a ride in.

  2. IF you want to race there is only one real way to race and it is NASCAR.... the rest is for p***y's.

  3. Try Dirt Track Racing

    Late Modifieds

    Modifieds

    Sprint Cars

  4. There will be a big difference in getting into Touring Cars or F1... the later option being much more difficult.  So where you want to go next will probably depend at least some on what is realistic: ie, how good are you and how young?

If you are still in the 18 and under crowd (and ideally a good deal less than that), and were consistently winning in karts, then the idea of Formula 1 is at least something that could be considered.  To that end, moving into something like Formula Renault would probably be the best (or a similar series with open wheel cars that can produce a good amount of downforce).  While Formula Ford would be good experience and good competition, and MAYBE worth a short look, you will get everything you could in Formula Renault that you could in Formula Ford, with the addition of experience in driving cars that have significant aero grip in addition to mechanical grip (the quicker you get to pace with this, the easier it will be to develop your pace).  Of course, costwise, F-Ford will be much more attractive than F-Renault (especially if you do not have much in the way of sponsorship already).

If you are not sure that F1 is realistic, or you think it's a maybe, then a season or two in Formula Ford might be wise... and it certainly isn't bad experience for Touring Car or other GT Car driving.

But, if your main goal is Touring Cars, you would probably be best served getting experience in production based cars (though a range of experience never hurts... this is true for an F1 driver too, but the pressure to be a top driver at an early age makes a truely wide range a near impossibility until after a driver has established himself in F1).
