  1. Use olive oil spray rather than butter. A bacon press on top would do.

  2. Jefferson said it perfectly.

Paninis are great, you'll like making them. I'd suggest buying a maker though, unless you do have a George Forman grill.

  3. You are correct- use a regular pan and place another pan (or a brick wrapped in tin foil) on top of your sandwich.  Be sure to flip your sandwich halfway thru cooking to brown both sides.

If you have a George Forman grill- that works well too!

  4. I saw this on Good Eats. Alton Brown was making paninis without a

    panini maker. Here it goes:

Preheat bricks covered in tin foil in oven.(about 350-375 degrees)

Gather up a great and delicious sandwich.

Spray cooking oil, or spread some butter on the bread.

Take out the bricks and put the sandwich on top.

Take the other bricks and put it on top of the sandwich.

Wait 3-5 minutes, then flip sandwich.

Cook for 30 seconds or 1 minute more.

Remove bricks, and cut sandwich horizontally.

ENJOY!!! I make Alton Brown's version all the time

    and it tastes great. :]
