  1. I use a wire brush to clean my irons.  You can buy them at any sporting goods store.  I dip the iron in some water, use the brush to clean the dirt/grass out of the grooves, rinse off the iron in the water, and towel dry.

I do this before I play every round.

  2. I use water and a toothbrush.  I've taken rust off with just water.  To get surface rust off of chrome, just rub the dull side of tin foil on it.  It won't scratched the chrome but it will take off the rust.  Of course, "Dawn breaks up grease and dirt".

I do have a friend who swears by using Windex.  :)

  3. the best way is to simply rub the head of the iron after your shot, this means that u dont get a build up of dirt and ruin ur next shot.

when you get home clean them straight away the best way i found is to use hot water, a tee and a scrubing pad. simply wet the club with the pad then scrub. clean the grooves with the tee or other pointy objet. rub again then dry

    hope this works

    works wonders for me

  4. One of the advantages of a country club is you pay for club storage which includes club cleaning. The kids do a fairly good job on the clubheads and usually bypass the grips. So about every other round I'll remind them that the clubs have something on the other end which needs attention. A slight stipend takes care of the situation.

  5. never use those wire brushes they ruin the finish

if you forget to clean them on each hit and they get stuck with c**p just soak them a little first and they will come clean easily

  6. What I do is keep a wet towel with me during my round and wipe my iron off after every shot , I have had my Titleist 690MB's for 5 years now and people still tell me how good they look , one more thing as well , when I get home after a round I wipe them with warm soapy water and also wipe the grips , it keeps them feeling new .

  7. You can purchase a copper brush. With a bit of water and the brush you scrub out the scorelines and then with a towel wipe off the rest of the iron. Personally I don't worry about keeping them looking new, just clean out the scorelines. Eventually all clubs rust or get worn down. Some people let there irons and wedges rust, especially on the face. The rust adds some additional spin, at least the is the general consensus.

  8. Well I feel it most important to keep the grooves clean while playing the course to get the best spin.  For this I always carry a damp towel to wipe the face after each shot.  After the round I run them under the faucet, and use a soft brush to clean the grooves, then dry with a towel.  People look in my bag and always ask "Did you get new clubs" when I have had them for years.

  9. Just clean them up after every round.
