I wanted to display menu boards for my restaurant that could show three to four different movies (probably in quicktime, avi, or wmv format).
These movies are probably less than 100 MB so I was thinking I might be able to use some type of flash memory for storage. I don't know what can take that movie and output it in a format that a plasma or LCD would accept (dvi, vga, component, preferably hdmi). I was thinking of using Asus eee PC because they are relatively inexpensive. I also ran across this vga/dvi splitter for computers (www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm... but unfortunately it doesn't work with Linux.
Also I liked the idea of using a computer because if it was connected to the network in the restaurant I could load something like logmein to remotely manage the movies if I needed to update prices and design.
Also if it works well I would like to add one of those informational screens like you see in coffee places or bars. Is their a subscription I could purchase or a software that I could run that would allow for it to display that information?
Thanks for your help.
