It is a 99 T reg Saxo 1.1, it has no mot and the brakes have completely gone. If I sold it I would be lucky to get £300. Shall I break it down and sell parts or would someone (banger racing etc )pay me to take it away, if so how much. Thanks

  1. ram raid?.....

strip it and scrap whats left...should do about £450 in bits.

  2. Yes, dump it and get the insurance!

  3. get say £200 plus from car breakers.  to strip and sell bits yourself  will cost you time and money  and you wouldnt make much more  , and take  longer,  bangers largely come for free.    No   take the  car breakers money,  they will collect it,  then look around.

  4. No one is going to buy it for Banger Racing, first biff and it would fold up.  A scrap yard will, in most cases' pay you, but not much nowadays (in UK). Do not break it - you still have to get rid of the shell and you have all the hassle of selling (you hope) dozens of bits. Basically you need to realise that it is just a pain in the butt for you, it no longer has any real value, put it up on open auction on ebay and take whatever you get and free up the space on your drive.

  5. OR you could just dump it off the river.

  6. you'd be best to send it off to the junk yard.  they recycle car parts for sale to others and have the land, space, and business license to do it.

in general, if it is driveable at all to the junkyard, they will pay you a bit for it.

if it is undriveable, such as in this case, it would have to be towed in, you probably will have to pay them to take it.  but it doesnt cost that much, as they have a chance to make money off of some parts later.

you could try to sell it to someone else, as is, and let them take it away for you.  this would probably be the way to make the most money.  if you COULD get 300 pounds for a car with no motor and no brakes, i would just take it.  i doubt you are going to get that much tho'.  but even if you can get 100 or 200 pounds for it as is, that is better than paying the junkman to come tow it away.

i wouldnt recommend selling it in parts to yourself.  most cities have ordinances against unmoveable vehicles in driveways or even worse, in yards.  particularly if they are coming apart in pieces.  plus you will spend lots of time with advertising, taking pieces off, etc.

  7. Flog it and get a bike. A car costs you a MINIMUM of £50 per week before you even drive it anywhere if you add up insurance, road tax depreciation, servicing, etc then it is costing you a fortune . A dealer would probably take it off your hands for peanuts but don't expect to make anything out of it.
